Adam Janssen, Craig & LeAnn Wendt, Mike Mealey

v Thanks to everyone for all of the hard work this last weekend at the 2007 Deer Classic.  The weekend could not have run as smoothly as it did without all of you.   THANKS!!!

v    We have agreed that it would be handy to have a repair box on hand at all shoots in case of some minor repairs.  Mike Alexander has graciously volunteered to be in charge of this.

v Jim Nelson’s mother is going to start another quilt for us to raffle.  Can’t wait to see the masterpiece she creates this time.

v Pat has reported that we have a little over $6000 in the bank.  WOW!!!  We have signed up around 15 new members so far this year.   We are off to a great start.

v Robert reported that our domain is good through 2011. Robert is going to spruce up our home page and update the picture album.  We are going to try selling some merchandise on-line and see how it does.  We will only offer a couple of items to start with and if all goes well, then we can add more.

v Pat is double checking our insurance policy to make sure we have enough coverage in place.

v Roy and Jim are placing the order for our new targets.  YAHOO!!!!!!

v Doyle is going to check on getting the target we won from the IBA banquet.

v We have scheduled a clean up day on Sunday March 18th at 10 am.   Items needed are chain saw and weed eater.  Remember many hands make light work!

v Our first shoot of 2007 is the weekend of March 31st.  Any help we can get to set up Friday the 29th would be much appreciated.   Chili is on the menu for that weekend.  MMMM!!!

v We need to be prepared to shuttle people at our shoots.  If weather is good we could have a great turn out.  We have agreed that a trash can needs to be set up past the tower before fat mans hill.

v Deb will be writing an article for our club and submitting it to the ISAA and IBA newsletter.  Thanks Deb!!

v Nicole McCabe will be mailing out reminder cards to all non-members.  This card will include our shoot dates and some other info.  Cards will be mailed out 10-12 days before our first shoot.

v A Triple Crown shoot is still being discussed.  Probably will not happen this year but everyone agrees that this would be a great thing for our club.  Oh, and yes we do have a name for it “The Mid Iowa Crown”.   Thanks to Jim Fazio for the input.

v Last but not least our next board meeting will be:                  April 2nd at Country Kitchen on East 14th street 6:30 pm.

2. August minutes read and approved

3. Webmaster’s report-Robert tallied 3879 unique hits at our website for 2006. He suggested we add our promotions of raffles and give-a-ways to the home page. Please continue to submit pictures to the website. Remember Doyle and Robert have scanners and can also scan pictures that aren’t in digital format!

4. Real Hunting has offered to host a hog roast at one of our shoots for promotional purposes. Mike Alexander will do some checking on the group and report back to the board.

5. Treasurer’s report-Adam reported the club’s current balance of $4224.00. Adam will be resigning from the treasurer’s position this year so the club will be looking to fill the vacancy. Adam also suggested getting a post office box for the club so there won’t need to be address changes as the treasurer’s position changes.

6. Jan. 27th will be the Fun Shoot at Archery Field and Sports. Jim and Roy will be setting up the course-heaven help us all. The club will be providing the pop, plates, napkins and silverware. This will be potluck style for the members and we have had some dandy offerings in the past! Irv will be charging ten dollars for the shoot and members showing their card at the time of payment will get a two dollar discount. Children will shoot for half price. Hands will be stamped to keep track of the paid shooters. This will also be election time for four new spots on the board. Doyle, Debra, Mike, and Adam are done with their terms. Officers will be elected after the new board is set. If interested in running for a spot on the board, contact Debra Lyons or Doyle Kincy.

7. Feb. 17th will be the Fun Shoot at Happy Apple. The club will again give a two dollar discount to all members showing their membership card at the time of payment. The club will be supplying “Granny Burgers” again this year as well as the pop, paper plates, napkins, and silverware. Members are asked to bring a snacky thing or dessert to this shoot.

8. Brett and Dawna will take care of purchasing a $100.00 worth of gift cards for the club for each shoot to give away as door prizes. MIA will also be buying a hundred dollars worth of merchandise from each store to also give away at the shoot. Also discussed giving away hats, t-shirts, and memberships as was done last year.

9. A big thanks to Brett and Dawna for offering to donate ice cream certificates from Granny’s to the children at the shoots!

10. The Deer Classic Vegas style shoot will be run much the same way as last year. The club will require that shooters show up a minimum of 30 minutes before their line time or lose their spot to another shooter.

11. Doyle suggested trying to get members to sign up to help set up at one of the four outdoor shoots. Roy suggested dividing the setup people into teams of four.

12. Merchandise-Pat reported that we need to order more of the bright colored t-shirts. The club will also order three dozen stocking caps in red, black, and orange-a dozen of each color. Discussed ordering sweatshirts and pricing them at $18.00. After seeing how they sell, the club may order more.

13. The board discussed forming a Triple Crown shoot between our club, Happy Apple and Archery Field and Sports. Dates could be selected from current shoot dates from all three.

14. Target Master’s report-Roy and Jim didn’t have an exact order ready, but did say we needed more turkey targets and some vitals needed replaced. They will have an order ready by the next meeting.

15. Next meeting will be Feb. 5th, 6:30 pm at Country Kitchen on NE 14th street.
